TINLEY PARK www.tinleypark.org The historic village of Tinley Park is located about 25 miles south of Chicago. This community was named after Samuel Tinley, Sr., the first railroad station agent. Early Tinley Park was a center of economic growth and prosperity due to its location at the hub of three railroad lines. The first developments built in the city were built leaving as many trees as possible to compliment those lovely one- and two-story traditional homes. Today, historic homes and modern ranch-style homes sit side by side on spacious lots surrounded by the serenity of tree-lined streets. The Historic District has been restored, now including homes, retail outlets, and local businesses. There are forty parks in Tinley Park, maintained expertly by the Park District. There are several trails for residents to use for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. Every type of recreation from basketball to picnics is possible in Tinley Park. It is a place of peace and tranquility a mere 30 minutes from the "Windy City". The schools have been rated for excellence and serve more than 10,000 students from Kindergarten - High School. The Village of Tinley Park welcomes you. |
